THE BARDY BUNCH:

The War of The Families Partridge & Brady

March 28 – April 26, 2026

Written by Stephen Garvey
Produced by Guggenheim Entertainment
Directed by Scott Evan Guggenheim
Musical Direction by Stephen Guggenheim
Choreography by Jon Gourdine

“Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!” Meets
“Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth!”

In The Bardy Bunch, a murderous musical sit-comedy of errors, two TV families you thought you knew are thrown into Shakespeare’s world of ambition, revenge, love, and betrayal. Mike and Carol Brady take their cues from Macbeth as they scheme their way to power, while Greg sulks with Hamlet’s brooding indecision. Marcia swaps her high-school crushes for full-blown Romeo & Juliet romance with Keith Partridge, while Danny plots Partridge family dominance with the mischief of Iago and the sarcasm of a sitcom brat.

“The body count is as large as the laughs!”
~ Times Square Chronicles

It’s Shakespeare’s greatest hits remixed with bell-bottoms, sing-alongs, and laugh-track innocence gone wicked. At its heart, the show asks a silly-serious question: What happens when sunny sitcom optimism collides with Shakespearean tragedy? The answer: a groovy, bloody good time!

“Irresistible!
As much fun as a visit from Davy Jones
and a ride in a psychedelic bus combined.”
– The New York Times

Featuring acts of Shakespearean passion and sitcom-style chaos, the musical features 15 hit songs made famous by The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family including “I Think I Love You”, “It’s a Sunshine Day”, and “I Woke Up in Love This Morning.”

“You’ll get a kick out of the camp and
over-the-top ridiculousness of this
nutty, bardy piece of work.”
– TheaterMania.com

  • Why Now?

The Significance of Presenting The Bardy Bunch Now

In Spring 2026, 3Below Theaters proudly presents The Bardy Bunch: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady – a deliriously clever mashup of two iconic ‘70s sitcoms with the timeless drama of Shakespeare.

Set in the summer of 1974, the show imagines what happens when the squeaky-clean Brady and Partridge families collide in a world of betrayal, passion, and vengeance. What begins as a very special crossover episode spirals into a blood-soaked, gut-busting Shakespearean tragedy, all underscored by the sunny, unforgettable pop songs that made these families household names.

    Why it matters:

    • Cultural Nostalgia with a Twist: The Bardy Bunch transforms beloved TV memories into a bold, subversive theatrical event, bridging generations of audiences who grew up with the Bradys and Partridges and younger fans discovering their legacy.
    • Shakespeare for the Pop-Culture Age: By blending sitcom innocence with Elizabethan tragedy, the show demonstrates how classic storytelling structures still resonate, whether in Verona, 1600, or suburban America, 1974.
    • Music as Memory: The iconic songs anchor the production in joy and recognition, drawing audiences into a familiar world before gleefully turning it upside down.
    • A Shared Experience: In an era when entertainment is often consumed alone, The Bardy Bunch is a reminder of the communal power of theater: laughing, gasping, and singing along together.

Presenting The Bardy Bunch in 2026 isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s about celebrating how pop culture, music, and classical theater continue to reinvent each other. It’s a perfect fit for 3Below’s mission: to surprise, delight, and bring people together around stories that are both familiar and freshly reimagined.
