As you go about your holiday we hope you’ll take a moment to read this tale that’s starting to unfold. And that’s the Story of Holiday Arts, or in this case, lack thereof; a story that most certainly must be told.
For many people the holidays are not just gifts, food, fun and family; it’s the time of year we gather for a show. Delighting in live theatre, the ballet, concerts, or the opera - all annual traditions so to the theater we go!
But these are exceptional times; every industry is affected as the 2020 pandemic rages on. For arts groups in particular the effects are never ending and if we don’t act now our favorites may be gone.
As we turn the page on “The Story of the 2020 Pandemic” the arts are in a quandry: the writing is on the wall. Our arts calendar is a big, blank slate: no holiday programs now, and perhaps for some no hope of future programming at all.
We cannot allow this story to continue as it’s written with chapters about arts agencies’ demise. We must rewrite the ending and with the help of our community we'll ensure the arts don’t just survive...they will rise.
We've created this hub where you can quickly find links to our region's arts organizations and learn about their Covid-19 Recovery Campaigns. If you can, give generously so we may ensure the arts survive.

The nonprofit Cashion Cultural Legacy (CCL) is committed to sustaining the preservation, presentation, and education of Mexican folk culture through dance. In honor and recognition of Dr. Susan V. Cashion and her many contributions to the dance world, the CCL pursues this mission by hosting two professional dance companies (Los Lupeños de San Jose & Los Lupeños Juvenil), offering accessible classes to the community (Los Lupeños Academy), operating an artist exchange between California and Mexico, and documenting the art form. We value ARTISTRY, EDUCATION, and PERFORMANCE. Our live webcasts feature players and ref interacting from their remote locations in an abbreviated ComedySportz Match. You'll attend the match via Zoom (we'll send you the link once you've bought your ticket) and will be able to give suggestions and even vote for the winning team! Tickets start at just $10 and multiple people can watch on one device. We appreciate whatever you can afford to help us pay the bills and eventually welcome you back live to our theatre!
Due to Covid-19, ComedySportz San Jose has canceled all shows for the foreseeable future to limit the spread of the virus and to stay in line with California's Shelter-In-Place Order. Like all theaters our revenue is mostly made up of ticket sales and classes, so without being able to congregate we have effectively seen our income drop to $0.
During this time we would greatly appreciate your support. We have updated our E-Gift Card offerings to include anything from a single ticket to having the opportunity to perform with us! - all available to be used on a future date of your choosing!

By providing housing, professional development, and performance opportunities like few opera companies in America do, Opera San Jose keeps the artist at the very heart of its creative and administrative life. Opera is an art form that takes hundreds of people to produce – artists, musicians, artisans, and patrons like you. Thank you for your support!
